In fact, the Navajo name for Upper Antelope Canyon is “Tse’ bighanilini,” which means “the place where water runs through rocks”. One of nature’s most wondrous creations, the slot canyon, carved from the red sandstone for millennia by seasonal flood rains and wind. The canyons are narrow passageways that lead several hundred feet away from the mouth. The canyon is known for its wave-like structure, and the light that shines directly down into the openings of the canyon creates a supernatural appearance, whilst the velvet-like walls reflect all tones and shades of color. While someone is in it, it feels like being in the labyrinth, on a visit to an extra-terrestrial planet. Antelope Canyon is probably the closest one gets to an alien photography destination without leaving our planet.
